Who Is Coach Berenji?
Coach Sheima Berenji developed a strong passion for the game of soccer at a young age. She lived and breathed soccer throughout her childhood. She played club soccer in her adolescence, worked her way through collegiate soccer at DIV. 1 SDSU, and continued onto the Semi-Professional Santa Clarita Blue Heat soccer team. After winning West Conference and National Championship with Blue Heat, Sheima made the tough decision to retire her playing cleats and pursue her new found passion, coaching.
She began her coaching career as a NCAA Women’s soccer coach at Caltech. She then transition to a club soccer coach for LAFC So Cal Youth and Director/Head Varsity Coach of Girls Soccer at La Salle College Preparatory, where she led her team to a CIF title and State Finalist in 2019. That same year she was named DIV. 4 Girls Soccer, Coach of the Year. In 2020 she led both teams to become league champions. In 2022, she led her G05 team to an undefeated NPL league and to the National Finals in Colorado. In 2023 Coach Berenji transitioned to LA Breakers as the G09 and G05/06 ECRL/ECNL Coach. As of most recent Sheima has resumed her NCAA coaching career as Assistant Coach for DIV 1. WCC school.
Her expertise on the field as both player and coach has allowed her to develop a unique and relatable training experience for her players. Coach Berenji understands both the physical and mental demands of the game and has a developed a unique training curriculum that provides these athletes with skills and knowledge to be successful not only on the field but off as well. Coach Berenji has developed young female athletes to continue their soccer careers as collegiate athletes at all levels and even had several athletes continue onto international play by representing their national teams.
Sheima leads her players by example, inspires them with her passion for the game, and empowers them to develop through her teachings. She wants to see each player reach their fullest potential both on and off the field.
